LABOUR RELATIONS CORNER

By Valentine Adejoh on April 1, 2019

As part of efforts to achieve industrial peace and harmony in the Public Service, Government has over the years established various platforms to engender continuous dialogue on issues bordering on welfare of employees. Such platforms include the ” Separate and Joint Arms of the National Public Service Negotiating Councils”. In addition to these, the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation Service Welfare Office, recently established the Permanent Secretary’s Quarterly Break-fast Meeting with Labour and the Permanent Secretary’s quarterly Forum with Labour Leaders of MDAs, as well as other routine administrative interventions geared towards further bridging the communication gap to foster and sustain industrial harmony. The Annual meeting of Councils I, II and III of the National Public Service Negotiating Council held at the Public Service Institute in Abuja in October, 2018, while the meeting of the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council was held in Yenagoa in November, 2018, respectively. The meetings had very fruitful outcomes, which when implemented would greatly enhance the welfare of Civil Servants.
